April 28th
Chad was in town to golf in the Ozark Regional Invitational so we got the car ready and went racing.
His first time in 7 months behind the wheel. Chad was still at the golf course when the car was
unloaded. The motor was cutting out so we got another fuel pump and was changing it when Chad
got there. We put the hood back on it just as his heat race was lining up. So with no laps under his
belt since last August, he hit the track. He finished 4th in the heat, qualified him 12th for the
feature. In the feature, he fell back to 15th early in the race and then towards the middle of the
race, another driver apparently forgot he had to turn the wheel when he got to the corner and took
Chad out. Fortunately for us, it caused 4 cars to spin so 3 of us got our spots back & the other one
went to the rear. Late in the race he started coming on strong, I guess the track kind of came to us,
and he got to 10th.
May 26th
After a few weeks off and trying to finish the semester at college Chad was back to racing. With a
decent finish in his heat Chad started 14th. The track was in good shape at the beginning of the
race. Chad moved up to 8th before the track started drying out. Chad ended finishing 14th.
June 6th
With 25 modifieds coming to Poplar Bluff Speedway it was going to be a great night of racing. Chad
had another good finish in the heat to get a decent starting spot for the feature. Chad moved up
several spots at the beginning of the race. As the track got drier he settled into 10th place and
finished there. A very strong run for Chad with 25 modifides there.
June 16
Chad was back to racing but it did not turn out very well. While running in the top ten in the
feature the transmission went out. Chad finished a disappointing 22nd. With the track holding a
practice night next week it will give Dennis and the guys a chance to get a new transmission.
July 7th
After the transmission troubles and a few weeks off Chad was once again back to racing. The
modifieds really like Poplar Bluff Speedway. They had 21 cars come for the night of racing. Chad
had a poor starting spot in the feature. He moved his way thru traffic showing a lot of patience to
finish 12th.
July 14th
Last week saw a lot of work for Chad, Dennis and the guys. They changed the rear suspension of
the car to try to help with more bite off the corners. After the change the car became very tight
thru the corners. Chad had a poor finish in his heat and had to start last in the feature. At the
start of the feature Chad stayed at the rear searching for a line to run. After 5 laps he started
moving forward. He started passing a car per lap. With a very rare occurance in modified racing
the 20 lap feature went green the whole way. Chad ran out of laps but managed to finish 12th. A
very positive run after struggling early.
